Ombligon Nestor Lasso [Competition]

Intense red fruits, watermelon candy, sweet expressive finish

From 2024 US Barista Champion Frank La’s roastery Be Bright and award winning producer Nestor Lasso is one of the most intense and unique coffees you’ll ever taste. This coffee was used in Frank’s winning competition routine and is one of the most expressive coffees we have ever come across. In the cup we find intense red fruits, watermelon candy aromatics, raspberry acidity, and a sweet chocolate finish. When hot, the cup is sweet, layered, and smells like watermelon candies. When the coffee begins cooling, tart red cherries and raspberries appear and become balanced with the layered processing. Brewing this coffee will fill your entire room with sweet aromatics, making this an incredibly memorable experience!

This might also be one of the first times you’ve ever tasted the Ombligon varietal. We have found Ombligons to be intense tasting, reminding us of loud pink bourbons but often skewing towards deeper red fruits and chocolate notes. This coffee is so expressive that it can be brewed in a variety of methods and we suggest you experiment!

Ombligon, a rare Ethiopian landrace variety whose cherry has a "belly," hence its Spanish name meaning belly button, is found locally. While some believe it arrived in Colombia from Central America, its exact origin and arrival date are undocumented.
