Kiaria AA
Complex acidity, sweet pastry, big body!
We are happy to be featuring Kiaria AA from Regalia! This is a great example of a complex and layered washed coffee where the acidity and body blend together harmoniously. In the cup we find deep red fruits tied to tropical acidity, and a sweet pastry finish. What we find most impressive is the complexity of acidity and the texture and body of this coffee. We find the heavier presentation of acidity in the cup to make each sip really dynamic especially as the coffee cools. This type of presentation with deeper red fruit notes is what makes a lot of enthusiasts love Kenyan coffees!
For an expressive red fruit classic Kenyan profile check out Karani AA we are releasing alongside this coffee.
From Regalia:
The factory is located in Kiambu County in the former central province. It is situated about 47km northwest of Nairobi. This factory belongs to the Gititu Farmers Cooperative Society, which also owns seven other factories in the area.
Coffee cherries are handpicked at peak ripeness by smallholder farmers and delivered to the factory for processing. The cherries undergo a fully washed method: parchment is wet-fermented for 12-24 hours, then dried on beds for 7-14 days.
